NIGHTINGALE application Privacy Policy

The EU project NIGHTINGALE is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy sets out the basis on which your personal data will be processed by us in connection with our case study demonstration activities. Please read the following document carefully, to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how we will handle it. When you confirm to participate, these Privacy Policy provisions will apply to our processing of your personal data.

What is NIGHTINGALE?

NIGHTINGALE is a large-scale research and innovation project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme with the overarching objective to increase resilience and civil protection in Europe. It is carried out by a consortium of twenty-three partners based in eleven countries of the European Union and associated countries. The project aims to optimise current procedures and methods and to enhance the operational capacities of emergency medical services and civil protection agencies in the event of mass casualty incidents. NIGHTINGALE will offer intelligent, integrated, and interconnected toolkit designed for emergency services. The technological solutions will be complemented with a commonly agreed operational framework that will be embedded seamlessly within the workflow.

For more information about the project please visit https://www.nightingale-triage.eu.

What is the NIGHTINGALE mobile app?

The NIGHTINGALE mobile app main purpose is to visualize, manage, and (temporarily) store and transmit data related to a victim. An important functionality is setting the triage status. The app can run on a smartphone, tablet and/or AR glasses.

Purpose of Data Processing and data that will be stored

The starting page of the app asks for login credentials to continue using it. The account creation, deletion and issuing of login credentials (username and password) is handled solely by NIGHTINGALE's coordinator (ICCS). The username and password are required to allow access to the app functionality. No personal information is linked to the account credentials.

When you activate the App, we automatically start to collect detailed real-time precise location information, which may be in the form of GPS signals from the mobile device on which you have installed and activated the App("Location Information"). The App only shares your Location Information with authorized users of the NIGHTINGALE toolkit.

In the course of using the App, you may either manually or automatically collect information related to persons you interact with ('victims'). Such information may include personal information (name, age, and other identifying characteristics), medical information (medical history, allergies, current status and vital signs), as well as images of the victim. All victim information will be sent to the NIGHTINGALE toolkit infrastructure, where it will be stored securely and accessed only by authorized NIGHTINGALE toolkit users, in strict accordance with effective laws, rules and regulations regarding personal data in a medical emergency situation.

Security of Processing

The security and protection of your personal data are very important for the Consortium. The Consortium has undertaken all appropriate organizational and technical measures to secure that the data that are collected during the registration process will be preserved for 2 years after the official closure of the project. We take appropriate measures to ensure that all personal data is kept secure including security measures to prevent personal data from being accidentally lost or used or accessed in an unauthorized way. ICCS will process your information only in an authorised manner and are subject to a duty of confidentiality. The personal data will not be shared with or used by external partners or other parties.

Exercise of your rights

It is noted that according to the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016), you may exercise the following rights that derive from the Regulation:

The General Data Protection Regulation also gives you the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the European Union (or European Economic Area) state where you work, normally live or where any alleged infringement of data protection laws occurred.

Privacy Policy Changes

Although most changes are likely to be minor, NIGHTINGALE may change its Privacy Policy from time to time, and at NIGHTINGALE's sole discretion. We encourage you to frequently check this page for any changes to its Privacy Policy.
